Obituary for William "Bill" Richard Leonhardt

William "Bill" Richard  Leonhardt
William "Bill" Leonhardt, 70, of Dawsonville, GA passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018. Born September 2, 1947 in Jamaica Queens to Margaret Colgan Leonhardt and WIlliam Leonhardt. Grew up in New Hyde Park and Melville, NY. Preceded in death by his daughter Andrea Leonhardt and sister Kathleen Fardig.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Dianne Stagl Leonhardt. Daughter Stacey Leonhardt-Garbos and son-in-law Andrew Garbos. Son William Leonhardt and daughter-in-law Amy Garrett Leonhardt. Granddaughters Katie Garbos, Leyna Leonhardt, Ava Garbos, and Leigha Leonhardt. Sisters and brothers-in-laws Linda Leonhardt Ryczak and Albert Ryczak, Carl Fardig, Peter Stagl, Kathryn Stagl, Sharon Stagl Doherty, and John Doherty. His Granddog Bella who had a special place in his heart.
Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Lutheran Church 1125 Bettis Tribble Gap Road in Cumming, GA. There will be a gathering following the service at the church.
Bill was active in the Dawsonville community serving on the Board of Governors of Athens Boat Club, Vice-President of the Dawsonville Lions Club, Vice President of the Dawson County Friends of the Library. He was active in his church serving as a Shepherd minister, Usher, and working with Family Promise of Forsyth County.
Growing up on Long Island he was Boy Scout and a volunteer fireman of the Melville Fire Department and on their EMS rescue squad.
