Obituary for Russ Bennett

Russell Cecil “Russ” Bennett, age 44, of Dawsonville, GA took the checkered flag and entered into the gates of heaven on Monday night, June 17, 2019 at Northside Hospital.

Russ was born November 10, 1974 and graduated from Dawson County High School. Russ was a lifelong member of Liberty Baptist Church later becoming a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church along with his family. He was preceded in death by his father Cecil Bennett, his father-in-law Jake Mullinax and his brother-in-law Bobby Bagby. Russ was happiest spending time and making memories with his beloved wife, Susan and their boys, Jake and Eli. He was a faithful Christian, loving husband, devoted Daddy, loyal son and brother. His sense of humor never failed to make others around him laugh and smile. Russ always had a passion for racing and started racing go-karts at the age of 5 and advanced to racing his #25 mini stock car competing on asphalt oval tracks as a teenager. In addition to his lifelong passion for racing as a participant and a fan, Russ also left his footprint in and around the racing community by building carburetors, serving as crew chief, flagman, and photographer. Russ found a way to turn this passion into a career. He was a self-taught graphic designer and founded Fast Designs & Graphics, a company he independently ran for 20 years. His lettering and designs were commonly seen all around the local tracks and community.
