Obituary for Charles Robert McCullough

Charles Robert McCullough, 64, of Dawsonville passed away Monday February 15, 2016 at his residence.
Born July 23, 1951 to the late Helen and Alvis McCullough, Charles lived for many years in East Atlanta growing up and maintaining a friendship with Patricia Barron of West Palm Beach. Meeting his life partner, James Miskimen, 12 years ago and after Charles retired, they decided to move to Dawsonville, escaping all and everything about Atlanta and now living in peace and quiet in the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains. In 2004 they became members of Paradise Valley Resort and Club. For ten years Jim and Charles hosted the 5K Fig Leaf Race Party outside their cabin….one of the features of the race program. Throughout his life Charles was a worldwide traveler with his late mother, Helen, and his partner, James. In 1973 he graduated from the University of Georgia majoring in Advertising. Charles worked at the old Rich’s Department Sore, followed by Oklahoma City, working at King Special Center where Administrative Services work was done on the old fashioned typewriter. He went to Saudi Arabia and worked in transcript systems concerning medical. His last position was in the Georgia Tech Research Institute (Personnel) for nearly 30 years before retirement. The worldwide traveler visited many countries and cities with his mother; Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Kenya, Tanzenia and Mexico. Charles visited Paris, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia and Morocco. Charles and Jim have visited Alaska, British Columbia, Mexico, Turks and Caicos, Belize. In addition Charles and Jim have taken wonderful cruises to Alaska, the Panama Canal and throughout the Caribbean. Charles also took a Mediterranean cruise.
At his request, Charles was cremated and a memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held at Paradise Valley Club and Resort at a later date.
